From Japan to Spain – a busy start to 2017

Claire Cunningham in Give Me a Reason to Live Photographer Maria Falconer

We are really excited to be back out on tour this year with Give Me A Reason to Live for Claire’s very first visit to Japan and performances in Madrid and Barcelona in Spain.

On 30 & 31 January, Claire will be running her Permission to Speak workshop in Tokyo, introducing participants to techniques that are key to successful collaboration with other dancers and with different bodies. The workshop aims to build communication and trust and will explore the use of language to reveal our relationship with our bodies and methods of expression.

Claire will then be performing Give Me a Reason to Live at KAAT Kanagawa Arts Theater in Yokohama on 4 Feb at 6pm, followed by a post-show performance and 5 Feb at 2pm.  Click here to find out more and to book tickets.  Claire’s trip to Japan was organised by the British Council in partnership with KAAT Kanagawa Arts Theater and supported by the Japan Foundation and Creative Scotland.

After a pitstop back in Scotland Claire then heads to Barcelona for another Permission to Speak workshop and performances of Give Me a Reason to Live from 10-12 February at Teatro Lliure.  She will also be speaking as part of a Lecture Series organised by the Observatory of Live Arts at the Institut del Teatre on 9 February, 1pm.  Click here for more details.

It’s then on to Madrid for performances at Teatro Cuarta Pared from 16-18 February . The performances and workshops in Spain are supported by British Council Spain, Free Theatre and Theatre Institute.
