“Crutch Camp” Workshop

Workshop:
Saturday 24th Oct, 11:00-13:00 (soft arrival from 10:30)
at HZT Berlin

As part of their 2 week research lab CRUTCH CAMP, crutch dancers Claire Cunningham, Laila White and Tanja Erhart will lead and share practices and scores from their own movement vocabularies. This workshop is open to university students, staff and local artists (disabled and non-disabled). Participants will not be invited to use crutches themselves (crutch and mobility tech using folks are of course, warmly welcomed!).

The aim of the session is to explore with participants the questions: “What can actually be shared or translated from a bespoke Crip vocabulary across different bodyminds (disabled and non-disabled)?”, and how does it avoid the territory of “cripping up”?

This session welcomes people who have diverse physicalities, visual impairment, chronic illnesses, use mobility tech and/or are neurodivergent. Audio description will be provided by the Artists as required. Please contact us for updates.

More access info can be found here: https://www.tanzfabrik-berlin.de/en/standorte

Thank You Very Much at Manchester International Festival. On a stage, Tanja sits with her back to the audience, wearing a bright red Elvis style jumpsuit with sparkling fringe down the arms. She holds her red-glittering crutches high in the air, crossed above her.
